These lesson plans should be used for all 7U-8U Recreation teams. Please be aware that it is okay to use the same activities or lesson plans more than once during a season. Additionally, coaches should feel free to “mix and match” the activities from the various lesson plans.

Training sessions for this age-group should be activity based. It is not necessary to utilize a progressive session for this age-group. 

Minnesota Youth Soccer Association: Training Sessions

• Session lasts 40-50 minutes

• Session begins and ends on time

• Soccer balls are properly inflated

• Players are properly equipped (i.e. shin pads)

• NO laps, NO lines, NO lectures (keep the players active)

• Each activity starts quickly

• Activities are player-center and not coach-centered

• Players have fun and look forward to the next session : )
